How to Set Up IPTV on Smart TV: Samsung, LG & Sony Guide

Install and configure IPTV on Samsung, LG, and Sony Smart TVs. Step-by-step instructions for each brand with recommended apps.

Before You Start

Check that your Smart TV is connected to Wi-Fi (or ethernet) and has access to its app store. You'll also need your IPTV credentials: a server URL, username, and password.

If your TV is older than 2016, it may not support IPTV apps natively. In that case, connect an Amazon Firestick or Android TV box and follow the [Firestick setup guide](/blog/iptv-setup-firestick) instead.

Samsung Smart TV (Tizen OS)

Samsung TVs from 2017 onward run Tizen OS and support IPTV apps directly.

Option 1: IPTV Smarters (Recommended)

Press the Home button on your Samsung remote.

Go to Apps and open the Samsung App Store.

Search for "IPTV Smarters".

Install and open the app.

Select Xtream Codes API and enter your credentials.

Channels load — start watching.

Option 2: Smart IPTV (SIPTV)

Install Smart IPTV from the Samsung App Store.

Open the app — it displays a MAC address on screen.

On your phone or computer, go to siptv.app/mylist.

Enter the MAC address and your M3U playlist URL.

Click Send and restart the Smart IPTV app on your TV.

Smart IPTV requires a one-time activation fee of around $5.49 after a 7-day trial.

LG Smart TV (webOS)

LG TVs from 2014 onward run webOS.

Option 1: IPTV Smarters

Press the Home button.

Open the LG Content Store.

Search for "IPTV Smarters" and install it.

Open and log in with your Xtream Codes credentials.

Option 2: Smart IPTV

Install Smart IPTV from the LG Content Store.

Note the MAC address shown on screen.

Visit siptv.app/mylist on another device.

Upload your M3U URL with the MAC address.

Restart the app on your LG TV.

Option 3: SS IPTV

Install SS IPTV from the LG Content Store (free).

Open Settings within the app and get the linking code.

Go to ss-iptv.com/en/users/playlist on your phone/computer.

Enter the code and your M3U URL.

Restart the app.

Sony Smart TV (Android TV / Google TV)

Sony TVs run Android TV (or Google TV on newer models), which gives you access to the full Google Play Store.

Press the Home button.

Open the Google Play Store.

Search for "IPTV Smarters Pro" or "TiviMate".

Install your preferred app.

Open it and enter your Xtream Codes credentials.

Sony's Android TV platform makes setup identical to any Android device. TiviMate is the best option if you want advanced EPG and picture-in-picture features.

TCL, Hisense, and Other Android TVs

If your TV runs Android TV or Google TV (TCL, Hisense, Xiaomi, Philips), the setup matches the Sony instructions above — install from the Google Play Store.

If your TV runs a proprietary OS (some Hisense or Vizio models), you may not find IPTV apps in the built-in store. Connect a Firestick or Chromecast with Google TV for full IPTV support.

Tips for Smart TV IPTV

Wired ethernet makes a noticeable difference on Smart TVs. Most Smart TVs have an ethernet port on the back — use it.

Close background apps on your TV before launching the IPTV app. Smart TVs have limited RAM.

Adjust video output — set your TV's HDMI signal format to "Enhanced" or "UHD" in display settings to enable 4K passthrough.

Update your TV firmware regularly. Outdated firmware can cause app crashes and playback issues.

Common Issues

App not available in my TV's store

Your TV model may be too old or regionally restricted. Use a Firestick or Android box instead.

App crashes on launch

Clear the app cache: Settings > Apps > IPTV Smarters > Clear Cache. If that doesn't help, uninstall and reinstall.

No sound or audio delay

Check your TV's audio output settings. Switch from "Auto" to "PCM" in audio settings. If using a soundbar via HDMI ARC, try optical instead.
